Why Play Open Gym Basketball?
OpenGymBasketball.com was created to bring back what old‑school players know best — real improvement comes from real runs. For decades, pickup basketball has been the place where young athletes sharpened their skills, learned the game, and grew by competing against players of all sizes, abilities, and athleticism. Our goal is to BRING this BACK to all HOOPERS.
OpenGymBasketball.com takes the guesswork out of pickup hoops by securing the gym locations, setting consistent court times, and organizing players by age and skill level. To make sure every athlete competes against the right talent, our open gyms are divided into four groups: Youth (5th–6th Grade), Middle School (7th–8th Grade), High School JV (9th–10th Grade), and Varsity (11th–12th Grade). We know some young hoopers may want to “play up,” and we’re not saying no — we’re simply encouraging players to dominate their division first before moving up.
